Family Event Turns to Tragedy After Shooting
A community Christmas celebration in Concord, North Carolina, was shattered by violence when four people were shot during the city's annual tree lighting ceremony. The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, 22nd November 2025, on Union Street South near Corban Avenue.
Emergency services, including Concord Police, Concord Fire, and Cabarrus County EMS, were already present at the event and were able to respond immediately. They provided urgent medical aid and began evacuating attendees from the scene, which had been advertised as a family-friendly gathering.
Victims in Critical Condition Following Attack
All four victims sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities have confirmed that three of the victims are in a critical condition, while the fourth is reported to be stable. The identities of those injured have not yet been released.
The ceremony was the city's 28th annual event and was set to feature more than just the tree lighting. A screening of The Grinch on a large screen, live music, and a fireworks display were also part of the planned festivities, which were abruptly ended by the shooting.
