The blaze erupted at the Wang Fuk Court housing complex in the Tai Po district on Wednesday, 26th November 2025. According to police reports conveyed by the Associated Press, the fire has resulted in four confirmed fatalities and eight injuries. Among the injured, three individuals were reported to be unconscious.
The South China Morning Post confirmed that one of the four deceased was a firefighter, highlighting the dangers faced by emergency crews. Local broadcaster RTHK, citing police sources, stated that several people remained trapped inside the burning towers, with two individuals in a critical condition suffering from severe burns.

The fire's intensity was exacerbated by bamboo scaffolding surrounding the building's exterior, which allowed the flames to spread rapidly. Reports indicate the blaze engulfed at least three blocks within the housing estate.

Firefighters were seen directing water jets at the intense flames from elevated positions on ladder appliances in a desperate attempt to quell the fire and rescue those trapped.
