The Metropolitan Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to following a homophobic assault on a 23-year-old man in East London. The attack took place on Saturday, July 4, while the victim was walking through Broadway Market, near London Fields.
Victim treated for facial injury
The London Ambulance Service attended the scene, and the victim later attended hospital for an injury to his face. The police have not disclosed the severity of the injury, but confirmed he received medical attention.
In an appeal, the Met Police released an image of a man they believe may have information that could assist their investigation. The man is described as Caucasian, with black hair, glasses, and distinctive tattoos on his left arm. At the time of the incident, he was wearing black jeans and a t-shirt and was on a bike.
Police appeal for public's help
PC Jack Hiew of Stoke Newington Police Station said: “We recognise the impact that this incident has had on the victim, and he continues to be supported by specialist LGBT+ liaison officers.”
He added: “We’ve conducted various enquiries in an attempt to identify the suspect, and we’re now appealing for the public’s help.”
The police have asked anyone who recognises the man to contact them via 101, quoting CAD reference 4508/26AUG26. Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Ongoing support and next steps
The victim continues to receive support from specialist LGBT+ liaison officers, according to PC Hiew. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid their ongoing investigation.
