Mum dies in Madrid fall with three-year-old twins

A 48-year-old mother has died after falling from the tenth floor of a residential tower block in Madrid while holding her three-year-old twin children.

A Birthday Celebration Turns to Tragedy

The horrific incident occurred on the morning of December 6, 2025, in the Ciudad Lineal district, a quiet residential area roughly 30 minutes from the Spanish capital's centre. The woman, identified only as Maria, was killed instantly. Her young children, a boy and a girl, were rushed to hospital alive but in a critical condition.

In a devastating twist, the family had gathered just a day earlier to celebrate the twins' third birthday. Locals reported that Maria had been to a nearby shop to buy presents for her children only hours before the fall.

Critical Fight for Survival

The twins were taken to separate hospitals for urgent treatment. One child was admitted to Madrid’s 12 de Octubre University Hospital, while the other was taken to the specialist Hospital Infantil Niño Jesús.

Medical staff hold grave concerns for their survival, particularly for the most seriously injured of the two. The city ambulance service confirmed the woman's death and the hospital transfers, stating that National Police have launched an investigation. Local police and fire services were also mobilised to the scene on calle Ricardo Ortiz.

Background of a Family Crisis

Preliminary reports from neighbours suggest Maria lived alone in the apartment following a separation from her husband. It is understood she had been suffering from depression and was receiving medication for her condition.

The investigation by Spanish authorities is ongoing as they work to piece together the exact circumstances leading to this appalling event. The community in Ciudad Lineal has been left deeply shocked by the tragedy that has unfolded in their midst.
