A man was hospitalised following an early morning attack in Finsbury Park, north London, and was subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act. The incident occurred on Monday, May 25, when patrolling police officers on Jackson Road in Islington were approached by a man at approximately 4:50am. The individual reported that he had been assaulted on Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park.
Police and Ambulance Response
The officers promptly called the London Ambulance Service, which dispatched an ambulance crew to the scene. The 29-year-old man was treated at the junction of Jackson Road and Holloway Road before being taken to hospital. Medical staff later confirmed that his injuries were non-life-threatening and non-life-changing. However, he was detained under the Mental Health Act and remains hospitalised.
Investigation Underway
No arrests have been made in connection with the assault, and the Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation. A police spokesperson stated: 'On Monday, May 25, at around 4.50am, police on duty on Jackson Road, Islington, were approached by a man reporting injuries believed to have been sustained in an earlier assault on Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park.'
Appeal for Information
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The police spokesperson added: 'Officers called the London Ambulance Service, who took the 29-year-old man to hospital, where his injuries were later confirmed as non-life-threatening or life-changing. He was later detained under the mental health act and remains in hospital. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD1597/25MAY.'
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson also confirmed: 'We were called at 7.02am on Monday, May 25 to reports of an injured person at the junction of Jackson Road and Holloway Road, Islington. We sent an ambulance crew to the scene. We treated a patient at the scene and took him to hospital.'
The incident has raised concerns about safety in the area, though police have not indicated any wider threat. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
