Kerry Katona's Stroke Scare Leads to Shocking Diagnosis

Kerry Katona, the former Atomic Kitten star, has revealed a terrifying health ordeal that saw her rushed to hospital after fearing she was having a stroke. The incident occurred while she was watching her daughter Molly perform in a play in London, with her other daughter Heidi and partner Paolo Margaglione by her side.

Daughter's Alert Sparks Panic

During the performance, Kerry began to feel unwell, and when the play ended, she realized she couldn't smile properly. Her daughter Heidi immediately noticed something was wrong, asking, "What's wrong with your face?" This facial sign, often associated with strokes, prompted Kerry to discreetly leave the venue and head to her hotel, where she requested to see a doctor, telling staff, "Something's not right."

From there, she took a taxi to St Thomas' Hospital, where medical staff announced they were treating it as a potential stroke. She was then transferred by ambulance to King's College Hospital for further evaluation. At the hospital, Kerry's condition worsened, with her face and speech deteriorating as doctors shone lights in her eyes. In a moment of fear, she texted her children—Dylan-Jorge, 12, Max, 18, Heidi, 19, Lilly, 23, and Molly, 24—to express her love.

Unexpected Diagnosis Revealed

After undergoing comprehensive tests and CT scans, Kerry received a surprising diagnosis. Rather than a stroke, doctors discovered that a part of her brain was "broken" and unable to send proper signals to her face due to extreme stress. Kerry explained, "The CT scans showed there's a part of my brain that's broken and isn't able to send signals to my face due to stress."

She has since spoken to Anna Williamson from Celebs Go Dating about the condition, learning that it can also occur when someone is feeling content, as delayed stress can hit suddenly during moments of peace. Kerry has been experiencing shooting pains in her head and noticing changes in her speech, where words don't sound right even though she thinks she's saying them properly.

Ongoing Recovery and Concerns

Kerry, a mother of five, has been reviewing old videos to identify when her speech started to change, observing a gradual worsening over time. While doctors have reassured her that her condition will improve, she admits to feeling "a bit panicky" and is seeking speech therapy and facial exercises to aid her recovery. This health scare has highlighted the profound impact of stress on physical well-being, serving as a wake-up call for the celebrity.
