The sister of a vulnerable man from Hackney, who vanished over a month ago, has made an emotional public plea, saying that finding her brother is the only Christmas present she wants.
Family's Growing Concern
Jason Scarfe, 56, was last seen leaving his home on Wednesday, 5 November. He has had no contact with friends or family since that date, prompting serious and growing concern for his welfare.
His sister, Amanda, has now joined forces with the Metropolitan Police to reissue an appeal for information, after initial efforts to locate him proved unsuccessful. In a heartfelt message, she said: "Jason, if you see this, we love and miss you. Knowing you are safe will be the best Christmas present we could ask for."
She emphasised his vulnerability, adding: "We need to find Jason as he is vulnerable. If you see him, please contact the police."
Police Appeal and Description
The Central East Command Unit is leading the search. Sergeant Kevin Hook stated: "We remain increasingly concerned for Jason’s welfare, as he has now been missing for several weeks. Officers are working tirelessly to locate him as soon as possible."
He praised the family's cooperation, noting they grow "more anxious by the day to see him returned to them safe and well."
Jason is described as:
- 6ft tall with a skinny build.
- He was last seen wearing black Sketchers trainers, black bottoms and a black hoodie.
Police have released a CCTV image from a supermarket on Clapton's Theydon Road, taken a fortnight before he disappeared, which they believe gives a clearer, more recent picture of his appearance.
How You Can Help
The Metropolitan Police are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately. Sergeant Hook said: "We are asking anyone who may have seen Jason or has information about his whereabouts to contact police immediately."
Anyone who sees Jason Scarfe, or has any information that could assist the investigation, should call the police on 101, quoting the reference number 876/07NOV.
