Reality Star Steps Away After Six Years on Hit Show
Chrishell Stause, a central figure in Netflix's popular reality series Selling Sunset, has confirmed she is leaving the programme after nine seasons. The 44-year-old announced her decision to depart, citing her mental health as the primary reason for this significant career move.
A Difficult Decision After Nine Seasons
In an interview with Bustle, Stause revealed the internal conflict she experienced before making her final choice. 'I’ve vacillated back and forth with this decision in the past,' she confessed. Having started with very little, she admitted that 'it’s really hard to turn something like this down.'
The estate agent, who has been with the series since its inception, found fame through the show's dramatic portrayal of luxury property sales in Los Angeles. The programme is renowned for its intense personal feuds and unexpected twists among the competitive agents.
Financial Security and New Priorities
Stause explained that reaching a point of financial stability enabled her to make this change. 'I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,' she stated. 'I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health.'
With an estimated net worth of $6,000,000 (approximately £4,580,000), the television personality has diversified her career. Before joining Selling Sunset, she was best known for her role as Amanda Dillon in the American soap All My Children.
Her career highlights include:
- Playing Jordan Ridgeway in Days of Our Lives
- Appearing on Neighbours last year
- Participating in reality shows like The Traitors and Dancing With The Stars
Looking Forward to a New Chapter
Speaking to Variety recently, Stause shared that while she enjoyed the current season of Selling Sunset, she felt 'excited to move on.' She particularly referenced the challenging nature of the reunion episode, describing it as 'so brutal.'
'In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward,' Stause revealed. 'I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me. It felt a little bit like a dog pile.'
Married to singer G Flip, Stause now looks toward future projects beyond the reality television format that made her a household name. Her departure marks the end of an era for the long-running Netflix series and its dedicated fanbase.
