More than £4,000 has been raised to support a woman seriously injured while intervening in the fatal stabbing of her mother, the Old Bailey has heard. Keeley Turner, 32, was stabbed twice as she tried to stop an attack on her mother, Samantha Turner, 52, at their home in Shepherd's Bush on August 18.
Attack and Emergency Response
Samantha Turner, a mother-of-four, sustained around 70 stab wounds and was found lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor. Despite her own injuries, Keeley Turner managed to phone 999 and urged emergency services to hurry to save her mother. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.54am.
Keeley Turner, who has two children aged seven and three, was taken to hospital where she received emergency surgery. She has since been discharged and is now in the care of relatives as she continues to recover, according to her aunt Sarah Thompson.
Community Support and Fundraising
Ms Thompson praised the local community for rallying around the family, noting that members of the public have helped raise more than £4,000 through a GoFundMe online appeal. Any donations will go towards helping Ms Turner resettle with her young family and cover funeral costs, she said.
Keeley Turner cannot return to the family home, leaving behind clothes, children's toys, and other belongings, according to her aunt. Ms Thompson described the shock of coming to terms with the loss of her sister and the injury to her niece.
Family Statement and Legal Proceedings
Ms Thompson told the Press Association: “You never expect something like this to happen. It’s devastating, the severity of the attack on her has really taken its toll on us. The whole family are devastated.”
Alan Dore, 48, from Shepherd's Bush, has been charged with murder and attempted murder. He is next due to appear at the Old Bailey for a plea hearing on November 9.
