Tragedy at Family Birthday Party
A five-year-old boy is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after a shocking incident at a popular golf centre in Sidcup. The child was attending a birthday party at Family Golf on Sidcup By-Pass when a wall collapsed on Sunday, November 9.
Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and a doctor, were called to the scene at approximately 5.40pm. The London Air Ambulance was also dispatched to assist with the critically injured boy.
Emergency Response and Second Child Injured
According to the Metropolitan Police, a second child, a six-year-old girl, was also injured in the incident. She was treated at the scene and taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
The London Ambulance Service detailed its extensive response, stating it sent ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer. A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance also attended the two children.
The five-year-old boy was transported to hospital in a serious condition, where he remains. His condition is still described as life-threatening.
Centre Closed and Ongoing Enquiries
In the wake of the collapse, Family Golf has remained closed for two days. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that their enquiries into the cause of the collapse are ongoing.
A notice posted on the centre's website expresses the management's concern, stating: "Our thoughts are with those affected. We appreciate your understanding at this time and will share further updates when appropriate."
Family Golf is a well-known family attraction in the area, featuring two dinosaur-themed crazy golf courses and a driving range. It is currently unclear which specific part of the building was involved in the collapse.
