Western Australia police have issued an urgent appeal for public assistance to locate 10-year-old Lyndel Ningella, who went missing from Perth's outer northern suburbs on Saturday evening. The young girl was last seen leaving a home in Butler at approximately 5:45pm on 15 August, prompting concerns for her safety.
Details of Disappearance
Lyndel was last seen wearing black shorts and a black jumper. She is described as approximately 160cm tall, of medium build, with long brown hair that has blonde ends and dark brown eyes. Police believe she may have traveled up to 80km from her last known location and could be in the Kwinana, Leda, Parmelia, or Wellard areas of Perth's coastal outer suburbs.
Authorities have asked anyone who sees Lyndel or has information about her whereabouts to contact police immediately. The case has seen a confusing development: police mistakenly announced on Monday afternoon that she had been located, but several hours later they reissued an alert confirming she was still missing.
Police Concern for Safety
Assistant Superintendent Darren Hart of Mandurah district police expressed significant worry about the girl's situation. "We hold concerns for Lyndel due to her young age and believe she may be staying with family and associates," he said at a media conference. He added, "It's believed she may have travelled to the Wellard area and was possibly there across the weekend."
Hart emphasized the urgency, stating, "We are concerned for her safety in that she is a 10-year-old girl who is making her own way in the world." The police are treating the case with high priority due to her young age and the distance she may have covered.
Public Assistance Requested
WA police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The appeal highlights the potential for Lyndel to be in specific suburbs, and authorities are checking CCTV and conducting searches in those areas. The public is asked to report any sightings or information that could help locate her safely.
As the search continues, the community is reminded to remain vigilant and contact police with any relevant details. The case remains open, and police are hopeful that public cooperation will lead to a safe resolution.
