Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) is left reeling after welcoming the daughter of a murderer into his home in Coronation Street. Lucy, the child of Tim's cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex) and his murdered wife Rachel, has moved in with Tim, Sally (Sally Dynevor), and the Michaelis siblings, and she's already causing chaos.
Tim's Guilt Over Richie's Murder
The turmoil began when Tim knocked on Richie's door days ago, after reconnecting with his cousin. Richie had been thrown out by Rachel after staying out all night, and Tim urged him to go home and talk to her. When Tim found Richie's wallet and went to return it, he discovered Rachel's dead body, with Richie covered in blood. Richie is now in prison for Rachel's murder.
In today's episode, Sally found Tim downstairs in the middle of the night, clearly unable to sleep. Tim kept replaying the moment he knocked on Richie's door and how he pushed his cousin to speak to Rachel. He felt that things might have turned out differently if he hadn't encouraged Richie to go back home, despite having no idea his cousin was capable of such horror.
Lucy's Arrival and Immediate Turmoil
Rachel and Richie's daughter Lucy had been placed in foster care, but Sally learned the placement had fallen through. Tim wanted Lucy to move in with them, and despite Sally's initial hesitation about taking in another vulnerable child, she recognized Tim's desperation to help.
Lucy arrived and chaos quickly ensued. She disappeared from the house at one point, only to be found at the bus stop by Tim, Sally, and Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger).
Dinner Table Confrontation
During dinner, Sally and Tim tried to gently discuss what might happen to Lucy's dad, but they received a shock. Lucy screamed in Tim's face, accusing him of not really caring about her. The youngster went from being incredibly quiet to shouting loudly, leaving Tim and Sally horrified.
Now, Tim and Sally have welcomed the daughter of a murderer into their home, and the situation is far from stable. The question remains whether things can get any worse for the family.
