Remembering a Generous and Courageous Man
In a heartfelt statement, his family painted a picture of a man defined by his strong character. They described him as a person of strong values and incredible generosity.
"Mat lived a life defined by dedication and integrity," they said. "Beyond his service as a proud Essex Police officer, he was a man of strong values and a generous heart."
His passion for motorcycles was a central part of his life, offering him joy and a sense of freedom. He was a proud member of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club, where he built deep friendships and shared a camaraderie with fellow riders.

Senior officers have also expressed their profound sorrow. Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow paid tribute to his fallen colleague, stating that the force remains "absolutely devastated".
"We have been deeply touched by the outpouring of public support, both here in Essex and from across the country, as well as the compassion shown by our wider UK policing family," Anslow said.
He emphasised that PC Parker made the ultimate sacrifice. "Mat was brave, he was courageous, and we are all grateful to him for his service," he stated. "We stand united in grief with his heartbroken family and continue to support them through this unimaginably difficult time."
