Teen dies in Lewisham crash; driver arrested on suspicion

A 16-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in Lewisham, with an 18-year-old man arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug driving. The incident occurred on Manor Lane at approximately 2:22 pm on Thursday, July 9.

Emergency Response and Hospitalisation

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. Despite receiving treatment at the scene, the teenager was taken to hospital where he died three days later on Sunday, July 12. Specialist officers are now supporting his family.

Arrest and Bail

The 18-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene but has since been bailed pending further enquiries. Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage, particularly of a white Range Rover Evoque seen in or around Manor Lane on the day of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Rob Harris, leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family following this heartbreaking incident. My team and I continue to work at pace to understand what happened. As we build a picture of the circumstances, we are keen to hear from any witnesses – particularly those with dashcam footage – who saw a white Range Rover Evoque in or around Manor Lane on the day of the incident.”
