City of London police have launched an urgent search for a 69-year-old German tourist with dementia who disappeared from a pub in Tower Hill on Friday evening. Birgit, who speaks no English, was last seen at the Minories Pub at around 5:45pm on July 3, 2026. CCTV footage captured her at 6:25pm on Middlesex Street near The Astronomer pub, heading towards Bishopsgate.
Description and concerns
Birgit is white with blonde hair. When she went missing, she was wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeved striped shirt with white, red, and blue stripes. A photo released by police was taken on the day she disappeared, but in the image she is carrying a bag, which she did not have when she vanished.
Officers are increasingly concerned for her welfare, as her dementia may cause her to appear confused. They are urgently appealing for anyone who has seen her to contact them immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to call 999, quoting reference CAD 7067. Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen Birgit during the evening of July 3.
