Police investigate rape on Orpheus Street
The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation after a woman in her 30s reported being raped on a quiet street in Camberwell, South London. Officers were called to Orpheus Street at approximately 11:55pm on Wednesday, July 8, following reports of the attack.
Police attended the scene and spoke with the victim. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant in the area.
Appeal for information
A Met Police spokesperson stated: “At around 23:55hrs on Wednesday, July 8, police responded to reports of a rape on Orpheus Street, Camberwell. Officers attended the scene and spoke with a woman in her 30s. At this time enquiries remain ongoing, and no arrests have been made.”
The police are asking anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference CAD9888/08JUL. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Community urged to stay alert
The incident has raised concerns among local residents, who are being advised to remain cautious. The Met Police have not released a description of the suspect at this stage. The investigation continues.
