A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a stabbing at a hotel in Staines that has been used to house asylum seekers. Surrey Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder.
Armed officers were called to the Stanwell Hotel at 6.30pm on Saturday following a report of a stabbing, the force said. The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A Somalian national in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody. Police have stated they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, but have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Kate Hyder said: "Due to the nature of the report, armed officers were dispatched to the scene and assisted with the arrest. There remains a police presence in the area while we carry out initial enquiries."
