Arrest made in Greenwich
A short time later, a 52-year-old man was arrested in the Greenwich area on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was taken into police custody and remains there while the investigation continues.
The Met Police confirmed the arrest and described the ongoing inquiries. A spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 7.50pm on Sunday, August 2, to a report of an assault in Beresford Square, Woolwich. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service.

"We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a London major trauma centre as a priority by road."
