Tributes Pour In For Fallen Essex Police Officer
The family of a police officer who died in the line of duty last week have shared a heartfelt tribute, honouring the beloved father, brother, husband, and uncle. PC Mathew Parker lost his life while responding to an emergency call on the A12 in Essex.
The tragic incident occurred near Ingatestone last week. According to Essex Police, PC Parker was involved in a crash and died at the scene. The force stated that it is not believed any other vehicle was involved in the collision.
A Life of Service and Passion
Known affectionately as Mat to his loved ones, PC Parker joined the police force in 2010. He was most recently a valued member of the Chigwell Roads Policing Team. A force statement highlighted his deep passion for motorbikes, noting he was the proud owner of a much-loved Harley Davidson.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, daughters, parents, brother, sisters, nieces, and nephews, who are now navigating an unimaginable loss.
A Family's Loving Tribute
In an emotional statement, his family painted a picture of a man defined by his character. ‘Mat lived a life defined by dedication and integrity,’ they said. ‘Beyond his service as a proud Essex Police officer, he was a man of strong values and a generous heart.’
The family spoke of the joy and freedom he found on his motorcycle, a passion that reflected his love for adventure and camaraderie. They pledged to forever cherish his laughter, honesty, and the strength of his character, ensuring his spirit lives on in their hearts.
Colleagues United in Grief
Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow, head of Essex Police’s Operational Policing Command, expressed the force's profound devastation. ‘We remain absolutely devastated across Essex Police at the loss of our proud and dedicated colleague Mat, who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave his life while responding to a call for help,’ he said.
He described PC Parker as brave and courageous, extending gratitude for his service. The Chief Supt. also noted the force has been deeply touched by the outpouring of public support from Essex, across the country, and from the wider UK policing family, standing united in grief with PC Parker's heartbroken family.
