Early Morning Crash Sparks Major Emergency Response
Emergency services rushed to a scene in West Sussex after a car collided with a gas substation, forcing the immediate evacuation of multiple homes. The incident occurred on Pagham Road in Pagham, near Bognor Regis, in the early hours of Monday, 24th November 2025.
Residents reported hearing a loud bang at approximately 3.48am, prompting calls to the fire service. Upon arrival, West Sussex Fire And Rescue Service crews discovered a vehicle that had crashed into the substation, initiating a major safety operation.
Safety Precaution: 100-Metre Evacuation Zone Enacted
As a critical safety measure, officials established a 100-metre evacuation zone around the site. This precaution led to the evacuation of residents from six flats and one house.
The displaced residents were taken to a nearby place of safety, which was Pagham Church Hall. A total of three fire crews were deployed to manage the incident and work on making the scene safe.
Road Closures and Ongoing Repairs
Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area to allow emergency teams to work without obstruction. Parts of Pagham Road are expected to remain closed while urgent repairs to the gas substation are carried out.
