Car crashes into nursery playground, three children hurt

Three children were injured, one seriously, after a car crashed through a fence into a nursery playground in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, on Tuesday morning.

Incident at Partou Sunny Days Nursery

Partou Sunny Days Nursery and Pre-school confirmed they were dealing with an incident and have closed for the day. The crash occurred at about 9:54am on Vale Road in the Whitby area.

Police, ambulance, and fire crews rushed to the scene. Witnesses reported seeing two ambulances, an air ambulance, a fire engine, and four police vehicles, including an armed response vehicle.

Casualties

A two-year-old boy suffered serious injuries. Two other children were also hurt but their conditions are not yet known.

The nursery released a statement saying they are cooperating with authorities and prioritizing the well-being of children and staff.

Arrest

A 63-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. A grey Omoda vehicle involved in the crash was being removed from the scene.

Photos showed the car had smashed through a painted green fence into a play area.
