British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for information to reunite a tiny teddy bear-shaped urn, believed to contain human ashes, with its rightful owner after it was discovered on a train travelling from London Kings Cross to Aberdeen.
The small red urn, wrapped in purple and white artificial flowers and held in the arms of a teddy bear toy, was handed into lost property upon the train's arrival in Aberdeen. According to BTP, the item was lost at some point during the last four months, although no exact date has been confirmed.
Appeal for information
Police Constable Gary Herning of BTP said: "The urn appears to contain human ashes or remains and will clearly be of enormous sentimental value to someone." He added: "Unfortunately, we have no further information on where the owner may have boarded or alighted during the journey."
The appeal has been issued in the hope that the individual or family concerned will come forward to arrange the safe return of the urn. BTP has asked the owner, or anyone who recognises the item, to contact them on 61016, quoting reference number 2600110174.

The urn was left on an LNER service operating between London and Aberdeen, and it was subsequently handed into lost property on arrival. The train route covers a long distance, and BTP has no further details about where the owner may have joined or left the service.
