Emergency services responded to a quadruple stabbing on Bromley High Street at approximately 2:15 PM on Thursday, September 10, leaving one man in critical condition and three others hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries. Seven men have been arrested in connection with the attack, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The incident prompted a large emergency response, including fire crews, police cordons, and London's Air Ambulance. A helicopter was heard hovering overhead, and sirens were reportedly audible up to 15 minutes away, according to a witness photo shared with MyLondon.
Police response and arrests
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed the timeline and details of the response: “At around 2.15pm on Thursday, September 10, officers were called to reports of an altercation on Bromley High Street. Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance and found four men with stab wounds.”
“Three of them were taken to hospital where they are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. One is in critical condition,” the spokesperson added. “Seven men were arrested and they all remain in custody. Police enquiries continue and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.”
The scene remained cordoned off for hours, with the High Street closed in both directions from Ringers Road to Ethelbert Road. It is not yet clear when the road will fully reopen.
Ambulance service details
The London Ambulance Service provided further specifics about the medical response. A spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.19pm today (Thursday, September 10) to reports of a stabbing on Bromley High Street, Bromley. We sent ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic.”
“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. We treated four patients at the scene and took them all to hospital,” the spokesperson confirmed.
Bus diversions and public appeal
Transport for London has diverted 16 bus routes due to the ongoing police incident: 61, 208, 261, 320, 336, 358, 119, 138, 146, 162, 246, 314, 352, 367, SL5, and 126. Commuters are advised to check for updates as the High Street remains closed.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting CAD 4008/10SEP, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. The investigation is ongoing, and all seven arrested men remain in custody.
