Lambwood Heights Care Home's 'Lamb-Vegas' Christmas Party Wows Residents
Care Home's 'Lamb-Vegas' Christmas Party a Hit

Residents at a Chigwell care home enjoyed a festive celebration with a dazzling twist this year, as traditional reindeer made way for roulette wheels and drag queens.

A Vegas-Style Celebration in Chigwell

More than 70 residents, their families, and friends at Lambwood Heights care home on Lambourne Road were treated to a unique 'Lamb-Vegas' Christmas party. The event, held in mid-December 2025, transformed the purpose-built home—which provides residential, nursing, memory, and respite care—into a sparkling casino haven.

Staff decided to offer a fresh festive experience, moving away from conventional themes. The 'Lamb-Vegas' concept allowed residents to try their luck at casino tables, don sparkling cowboy hats, and enjoy dancing and singing.

Star-Studded Entertainment Line-Up

The entertainment roster was a major hit. Drag artist Chamonix Aspen performed a set of Christmas songs and classic tunes, while magician Ross McCourt toured the home, bringing his tricks to residents' bedsides. The 16-piece swing band, The Earl Greys, had everyone in the dining room clapping and tapping their feet to festive numbers.

"I really enjoyed it, I liked all the acts, but the swing band was my favourite, they were more my era!" said 86-year-old resident Jackie Smith. "They really looked like they were enjoying themselves. It was very good fun."

Creating New Experiences for Residents

Lifestyles Manager Lucy Malchar, who entertained guests dressed as Elvis Presley, explained the thinking behind the event. "The average age of our residents is in the 80s so they’ve had Christmas many times," she said. "You’re never too old to do things differently and have new experiences and so Lamb-Vegas was born!"

Malchar praised the performers, noting it was the first time The Earl Greys had played at the 73-bedroomed home and that they would "definitely be having them back." She added, "It was wonderful to see our residents having such a great time - there’s no age limit to fun and excitement."

The party was also a hit with visitors. Heather Noel, whose mother lives at Lambwood Heights, said, "The party was excellent!! She had a great time and so did we. It was entertaining, joyful, and the food was mouthwatering. The staff were so caring... A lovely day overall."
