Tragic Hide-and-Seek Game Ends in Fatal Freezer Accident for Siblings
A heartbreaking incident in Colombia has resulted in the deaths of two young siblings who became trapped in a freezer while playing a game of hide-and-seek. The tragedy unfolded in the town of Vista Hermosa, located in the Meta department, when eight-year-old Saori Guevara Tiller and her five-year-old brother Darien climbed into the appliance during their parents' brief absence.
Parents Return to Find Children Unresponsive
According to reports, the children's parents, Brayan Guevara Trivino and Karen Tiller Pana, had left their residence for approximately twenty minutes to purchase groceries and a shirt needed for a school parade. Upon returning home around 7 p.m. on Saturday, they discovered their children missing and initiated a search of the house.
The parents ultimately found Saori and Darien inside the freezer, which was reportedly unplugged at the time. Brayan Guevara Trivino explained to Colombian newspaper El Tiempo that the children had a habit of playing hide-and-seek and often searched for each other during these games. He stated that the freezer lid apparently closed on them after they entered, leading to suffocation.
Medical Efforts Prove Unsuccessful
Emergency services rushed the siblings to the local hospital in Vista Hermosa, where medical personnel performed resuscitation maneuvers in a desperate attempt to revive them. Unfortunately, these efforts were unsuccessful, and both children were pronounced dead at the facility.

The children's mother, Karen Tiller Pana, shared an emotional tribute on social media, posting photographs of her children alongside heartfelt words. She expressed gratitude for the joy they brought during their eight years of life and described the experience of motherhood as the most beautiful she could have imagined.
Their aunt, Lindey Almazo Rosado, also mourned the loss, referring to the siblings as "little angels" now in Heaven and acknowledging the immense emptiness their passing has created. The children's school, Los Centauros, issued a statement expressing regret over the deaths and offering sincere condolences to the grieving family.

Mayor Juan Andres Gomez, in a joint statement with Vista Hermosa Town Hall, extended condolences to the family while emphasizing the importance of child protection. The statement noted that preliminary information indicated the parents had left the children alone briefly, and upon returning, found them inside the refrigerator without signs of life.
