South London Boy's Greggs Obsession Overcome by Hypnosis
Greggs-Obsessed Boy Tries Veg After Hypnosis

A remarkable transformation has occurred for a young South London boy whose diet was once dominated entirely by Greggs sausage rolls. Thanks to an innovative hypnotherapy intervention, five-year-old Greyson Theophanous from Wallington has dramatically broadened his culinary horizons, now willingly trying fruits and vegetables for the first time in his life.

A Limited and Costly Diet

For years, Greyson's eating habits presented a significant challenge for his family. His mother, Jennifer, 32, described how her son would become visibly distressed, screaming and crying, whenever she attempted to introduce any food beyond his extremely limited preferred items: Greggs sausage rolls, crisps, or garlic bread. This restrictive pattern made everyday family meals and special occasions like birthday celebrations particularly difficult, as Greyson would consistently refuse all other offerings.

The situation escalated to the point where Jennifer and her husband Alex, 31, were spending hundreds of pounds each month solely on frozen Greggs sausage rolls from Iceland supermarkets and fresh purchases from local shops to ensure their son was fed. "We were buying Greggs sausage rolls every day," Jennifer recalled, noting that at one stage Greyson was consuming two sausage rolls daily—one at nursery and another at home for dinner.

The Turning Point Through Hypnosis

As a final attempt to address the issue, the concerned parents sought help from David Kilmurry, a specialist in obsessive eating disorders who practices hypnotherapy. Despite Greyson being autistic and selectively mute—traits that often make him reluctant to communicate with strangers—the session proved immediately successful. Jennifer expressed her astonishment at how quickly David established rapport, making Greyson laugh and feel comfortable.

The results were nothing short of extraordinary. During that single two-hour session, Greyson sampled ten different foods he had previously refused. His new tasting repertoire included spinach, lime, grapefruit, pomegranate seeds, blue Doritos, mince pie, orange, grapes, salad, and apple. He even rated the grapefruit a perfect 10 out of 10. For the first time ever, Greyson went to school with fruit in his lunchbox, and he has since tried pineapple at home.

Understanding the Background

Jennifer reflected on the possible origins of her son's eating difficulties. When Greyson was around eight months old, he was diagnosed with a cow's milk allergy and experienced significant weight loss. Medical professionals suggested he might have associated eating with pain from that early experience, though Jennifer remains uncertain if that fully explains the subsequent fixation. By age two-and-a-half, his diet had narrowed exclusively to sausage rolls.

Nursery staff had previously remarked they had never encountered a child so fearful of eating lunch. The breakthrough through hypnotherapy has therefore been life-changing. "For him to sit there and try 10 different foods, it was nothing short of a miracle," Jennifer said. "That's the first time he's sat down and actually eaten fruit. It's amazing."

Expert Praise and Future Outlook

David Kilmurry, the hypnotherapist, commended Greyson's progress enthusiastically. "Lots of children with autism have a fabulous fuel intake and now he's trying food other than sausage rolls, the world will open up for him," he stated. "Well done superstar Greyson. I am so honoured to have met and worked with Greyson and his mum."

This case highlights how alternative therapeutic approaches can sometimes achieve breakthroughs where conventional methods have struggled. For Greyson and his family, the hypnotherapy session has not only diversified his diet but also alleviated the considerable stress and financial burden associated with his previous eating habits. The future now looks brighter, with a wider range of nutritious foods becoming part of his daily life.
