Coronation Street has confirmed a dramatic gun twist involving Jodie Ramsey, and lives are on the line. This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode (Tuesday, June 16), which has not yet aired on TV but is available now on YouTube and ITVX.
The Webster Family in Crisis
Yesterday's episode left viewers on a cliffhanger with the Websters locked in the garage by Ronnie Bailey. A sweating Tyrone Dobbs paced nervously as Carl Webster challenged Kevin to use the gun he had obtained from Fiona Morley and end his misery. Initially believed to be brothers, Carl is actually Debbie Webster's son, and their once fractious relationship has been destroyed.
Despite Carl's pleas to turn his life around, Kevin's disbelief is understandable given Carl's cruel behavior. Last year's Webster drama centered on Carl's affair with Kevin's wife, Abi Webster. While seducing her, he continued working for Fiona, using Kevin's garage for dodgy MOTs and employing teen tearaways Brody Michaelis and Dylan Wilson to steal cars.
Carl's bad behavior seemed endless: he ran down Tyrone, leaving him temporarily paralyzed, and started an affair with James Bailey. When Kevin discovered the truth about Abi and Carl, she tried to turn their affair into a relationship, but Carl lost interest. After his drunk driving caused the Corriedale pile-up, he let Debbie believe she was responsible, even as her dementia worsened. He allowed her to go to prison and tried to scam money from her. After her release, he tormented her until she banished him with cash. When Kevin stole that cash, Carl sabotaged his brakes in revenge.
On the night of Theo Silverton's murder, Tyrone accidentally dropped a car on Carl, and Ronnie dumped him at the hospital.
Carl's Attempt at Redemption
Since then, Carl has tried to mend his broken relationships, starting with his mother. Struggling for cash, he picked up the gun for a final payday from Fiona. When Kevin waved it around, he discovered it was real. Later, Kevin and Carl ended their feud, with Carl swearing to be a better man. He admitted he tortured Kevin out of spite and jealousy. With peace seemingly restored, Carl attempted to drop off the gun and block Fiona. But he was tailed.
Jodie Gets the Gun
Psychotic and deeply disturbed, Jodie Ramsey giggled with glee when she found the gun and took it home. Fiona sought out Carl at Chariot Square, where Debbie and Ronnie learned the gun was missing, putting them all in danger. So Carl, Debbie, and Ronnie are on Fiona's hitlist. But who else is in trouble? Jodie has long desired to destroy sister Shona and her husband David Platt.
Just how many Weatherfield residents are in danger from this gun?
