The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an urgent recall for Lucky Saint's 0.5% Hazy IPA, sold in packs of 4 x 330ml cans, due to a risk that some cans may become over-pressurised and rupture unexpectedly, potentially causing injury.
The affected product carries a best before date of August 13, 2027. The FSA alert, published on Wednesday, states: "Lucky Saint is recalling Hazy IPA products because some cans may become over-pressurised and rupture unexpectedly."
Consumers told not to open or drink affected cans
Shoppers who have purchased the affected product are being advised to "not drink it or open it" and to dispose of the cans safely rather than returning them to shops. The FSA warned that "there is a risk that the cans may explode which may cause injury."
Retailers stocking the cans will display point-of-sale alerts explaining the recall. The notice reads: "We are recalling Lucky Saint 0.5% Hazy IPA 4 x 330ml because some cans may become over-pressurised. This can cause cans to swell, leak or rupture unexpectedly, presenting a risk of physical injury."
How to claim a refund and dispose of cans safely
Customers are entitled to a full refund with proof of purchase. The recall notice instructs consumers to handle the cans as little as possible, place them carefully upright in a sealed bag, and dispose of them with household waste.
The FSA advises against returning the cans to shops, emphasising the importance of safe disposal to minimise any risk of injury from rupturing cans.
