Cat Deeley has detailed how she and ex-husband Patrick Kielty manage co-parenting their two sons, describing the arrangement as '50-50' and emphasising the importance of being 'as organised as you can possibly be.'
Co-parenting approach revealed
In an interview with The Times, the 49-year-old former CD:UK host explained the practicalities of raising their children after their separation was announced in July 2025, following 12 years of marriage. The couple share two sons: Milo, born in 2016, and James, born in 2018.
'I have an amazing nanny too,' Deeley added, noting that 'everybody's doing their best.' Her This Morning co-host Ben Shephard, who joined the interview, reflected on his own childhood, saying: 'I look back now, and I realise I struggled with my dad, through my teenage years particularly. We're very, very different people. But I just realised how hard they were working and trying to make it work for us. As Cat says, they were just doing their best.'
Statement and current lives
At the time of their split, Cat and Patrick issued a joint statement: 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.'
Deeley resides in London, where she has co-hosted the ITV breakfast show with Shephard since 2024. Kielty, 55, splits his time between London and Dublin, where he presents The Late Late Show. When he returned to the series last September, he thanked viewers in an emotional opening speech, saying: 'One of the greatest joys of hosting this show is that you're never alone.'
Background and recent sightings
The couple first met in 2002 while hosting the BBC reality show Fame Academy. They remained friends for a decade before confirming their relationship in March 2012, and married a year later in a 17th-century chapel in Rome. They separated seven years after welcoming their second child.
Neither has disclosed the exact reasons for the split, though reports suggested Kielty 'knew' the marriage was over when Deeley did not attend his mother's funeral. A source told the Daily Mail: 'Cat obviously knew how close Patrick was to Mary, and she should have come to be by his side, a hand on his shoulder as he buried his mother.' A spokesperson for Deeley told MailOnline: 'Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.'
Earlier this year, Deeley was photographed on a date with movie executive Charlie Coleman at a Lewis Capaldi gig in Hyde Park. An onlooker told The Sun: 'The pair were all smiles, laughing and animatedly chatting. At one point, Charlie touched Cat's bare back affectionately, and she was also tactile with him as they sipped on drinks in paper cups. They seemed very relaxed with each other and shared several jokes.'
