In West Sussex, UK, children competed in vintage Austin J40 pedal cars for the Settrington Cup at the Goodwood Revival motorsport festival. The event drew young drivers in miniature classic cars.
In Munich, Germany, a swing ride formed part of the annual Oktoberfest celebrations, while in Ontario, Canada, a chameleon was on show at the Canadian Pet Expo in Mississauga.

In New York, US, light-up disco sneakers were featured at the Illumination Light Art festival, a free art and performance event in Battery Park City. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, an inflatable artwork titled 'Sonhando Acordado' (Dreaming Awake) by Alex Senna was displayed at Rio art week.

In Warsaw, Poland, 'tram bowling' was part of the European TramDriver Championship, a one-day test of tram drivers' skills won this year by a team from Prague. In Nagoya, Japan, Suphawadi Wongkhamchan from Thailand won gold at the teqball women's doubles final in the Asian Games.

In Beijing, China, workers in Tiananmen Square assembled a display of giant artificial flowers in the run-up to China's National Day on 1 October. In Moscow, Russia, live feeds from polling stations across the country were shown at Russia's central election commission on the first day of parliamentary elections.
In Saint Petersburg, Russia, workers removed the coat of arms from Germany's consulate general, which Moscow ordered closed in response to Germany shutting Russia's diplomatic mission in Bonn.
In Havana, Cuba, a man stood in the street during a widespread power cut, at least the sixth major outage in Cuba this year. In Gaza City, a mural on part of a destroyed building thanked US rapper Macklemore for voicing support for Palestinians, after he was dropped from Ed Sheeran's tour. Also in Gaza City, Palestinians responded in the aftermath of an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) strike in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood.
In Tegucigalpa, Honduras, a Garifuna woman campaigned for Honduras to comply with rulings by the inter-American court of human rights protecting her community's ancestral lands, after an international delegation urged the same. In Madhya Pradesh state, India, campaigners lay on symbolic funeral pyres to protest against the Ken-Betwa river link project, which they say will submerge villages and displace communities.
