Paddington the Musical Set to Debut on Broadway in New York
Paddington the Musical Coming to Broadway

A stage adaptation of the beloved children's character Paddington Bear is set to make its Broadway debut, bringing the marmalade-loving bear to New York audiences. The musical, simply titled Paddington, will premiere at a yet-to-be-announced theatre, with previews beginning in spring 2027.

Creative Team Announced

The production is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, known for her work on Half a Sixpence and The Wind in the Willows. The book is written by David Wood, a veteran of children's theatre, with music and lyrics by Stiles and Drewe, the duo behind Mary Poppins and Honk!.

Story and Characters

The musical follows the classic tale of Paddington, a young bear from Peru who is adopted by the Brown family in London. His adventures, mishaps, and love for marmalade sandwiches are brought to life with new songs and choreography. The character of Paddington will be portrayed using a combination of puppetry and an actor, similar to the successful stage adaptation of War Horse.
