A new website dedicated to polling Pokémon fans has revealed surprising results, with Pikachu failing to make the top 50. The site, which collects votes and comments on favorite Pokémon, has already attracted over 72,200 votes in just three days. Despite Pikachu's status as the franchise mascot, it currently sits at 70th place with only 239 votes.
Mimikyu Takes the Top Spot
The number one Pokémon is Mimikyu, a ghost/fairy type introduced in 2016's Pokémon Sun and Moon. Mimikyu has garnered 927 votes at the time of writing. This Pokémon is known for disguising itself as Pikachu, as it is described as a lonely creature seeking affection. According to lore, anyone who sees its true form dies, but fans seem to overlook this detail, sympathizing with its plight or simply finding it cute.
Fan comments reflect this sentiment. One user named Satsu wrote, 'Relatable little guy, they just want to be loved even if it means pretending to be someone they’re not.' Another, Kian, added, 'Dressing up as something cute and lovable because you’re scared nobody will love what you truly are. I hope one day, Mimikyu, that you’ll learn to live. Not under the guise of another, but as yourself.' A third fan, Firs, noted, 'He’s cute, for one. Also deceptively strong in battles! Carried me through Pokemon Violet.'

Mimikyu's success mirrors its performance in Google's 2020 Pokémon of the Year ballot, where it also made the top 10, outperforming Pikachu. However, in that poll, it finished third behind Greninja, which has fared poorly in this new list, ranking 116th with only 171 votes.
Least Popular Pokémon
At the bottom of the list, a three-way tie exists between Trumbeak, Tapu Bulu, and Tadbulb, each with just two votes. The site's creator, Mixel34P, aimed to determine if every Pokémon is someone's favorite. The final five Pokémon to receive a vote were Arrokuda, Capsakid, Brute Bonnet, Nymble, and Quaxwell, most of which are from the latest games, Scarlet and Violet, suggesting newer Pokémon lack nostalgia among older fans.
