Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Donald Trump's recent trip to China and his subsequent social media frenzy, with Stewart declaring the president returned empty-handed.
Stewart: 'So Nothing? You Got Nothing!'
On The Daily Show, Jon Stewart highlighted Trump's tough talk on China before his visit, showing clips of the president criticizing Xi Jinping. However, upon arrival, Trump opted for flattery. Stewart played footage of Trump praising Xi, then asked, 'Sometimes you get more flies with honey, so what did you get?' When a clip showed Trump answering 'a relationship,' Stewart quipped, 'So nothing? You got nothing!' He added, 'All you came back with was his Instagram?'
Stewart also expressed skepticism over Trump's claim that Xi called America the 'hottest country' in the world. 'That quote sounds really a lot like you,' Stewart said.
Turning to graduates, Stewart joked that maybe the advice about honesty and hard work is 'completely wrong,' suggesting they learn from Trump's rise instead. He mocked Trump's handshakes and bizarre self-praise, urging viewers to 'set the terms of the battle' and 'make your answer cocky and super weird.'
Kimmel: 'He's So Embarrassing on These Trips'
On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host joked that Trump visited China to see 'all the factories where his America First merchandise is made.' Kimmel laughed at Trump telling Xi how much he loves Panda Express and mocked the strange welcome from Chinese children, saying, 'I think they told them he was SpongeBob.'
Kimmel scoffed at Trump's claim that Xi called America the hottest country, suggesting Trump should 'give him all our farmland for that.' He also ridiculed Trump's new insult for Democrats—'Dumb-ocrats'—noting it took 11 years to come up with that. Kimmel poked fun at Trump's mispronunciation of 'vegan' and his AI-doctored photo with an alien, which Senator Mike Lee supported without understanding. 'It means the guy with the nuclear codes is out of his goddamn mind,' Kimmel said.
Kimmel also targeted Trump's claim of aging in reverse, quipping, 'Wearing diapers does not mean you're aging in reverse.' He mocked a White House post depicting Trump as James Bond, saying he would 'grab 'em by the Octopussy' and that '007 is his approval rating right now.' Finally, Kimmel noted Trump's 111 rounds of golf in 484 days, asking, 'Do you know how hard it is to be a doctor and Jesus at the same time?'
