Wedding bells are ringing in Coronation Street as Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) receives a huge surprise when her mother's boyfriend, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), pops the question.
Bethany's History with Step-Dads
Since birth, Bethany has seen a revolving door of step-fathers. Her mother Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) became pregnant as a teenager, and Bethany's biological father, Neil Fearns, died in a car crash years later. Sarah has since dated several Weatherfield legends, including a brief relationship with best friend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) before he came out as gay, and a turbulent on-off romance with his brother Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas). She was also engaged to murderous gangster Callum Logan (Sean Ward) and married lawyer Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), though that ended after Sarah cheated with drug dealer Damon Hay (Ciarán Griffiths).
Sarah's taste for bad boys extended to builder Gary Windass (Mikey North), a romance that Bethany herself became obsessed with, causing a rift between mother and daughter.
Kit Green: The Perfect Partner
Now, Sarah is dating police officer DS Kit Green. Bethany's first encounter with Kit was less than ideal—he arrested her in late 2025 for taking her boss's car without permission. Despite rumors of an affair between Bethany and Kit, it was revealed that Kit was actually dating Sarah all along.
Kit is dedicated and career-driven, currently investigating Gary for the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). Meanwhile, Sarah has been growing closer to Gary since being attacked by Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) on the night of Theo's murder, causing suspicion from Gary's wife Maria (Samia Longchambon).
The Proposal
Despite the ongoing murder investigation and Maria's suspicions, Kit decides it's the perfect time to propose to Sarah. Being old-fashioned, he first asks Bethany for her blessing. In upcoming scenes, Kit gets Bethany alone and confides that he's thinking of asking Sarah to marry him. How will Bethany react?
