BBC Stars Support Scott Mills' Husband on Anniversary After Sacking
BBC Stars Support Scott Mills' Husband on Anniversary

BBC stars have publicly supported Sam Vaughan, husband of former Radio 1 host Scott Mills, after he returned to social media. Sam posted an Instagram photo commemorating their second anniversary, two months after Scott's dismissal from the BBC over historic sexual offence allegations. The image shows the couple holding hands in tuxedos after their wedding in Spain.

Support from BBC Colleagues

Scott's former BBC colleagues flooded the comments with support. Zoe Ball wrote: '2 years [heart] Love you [four red heart emojis].' Rylan Clark and Sara Cox also posted strings of hearts. The post has been liked over 15,000 times.

This comes after Rylan Clark grew emotional on ITV's The Assembly, reflecting on losing friends to 'cancel culture.' Sara Cox, a friend and colleague of Scott for three decades, attended Scott and Sam's wedding in 2024.

Scott Mills' BBC Career

Scott joined BBC Radio 1 in 1998, hosting the early morning breakfast show. He later took over from Sara Cox as maternity cover in the early evening. In 2022, he moved to Radio 2, replacing Steve Wright, and returned to breakfast in January 2025, replacing Zoe Ball. He remained there until his dismissal in March 2026.

Scott had been questioned in 2018 over allegations from 1997 to 2000, but the case was dropped due to lack of evidence. The BBC later terminated his contracts citing 'new information.' Scott is believed to be taking legal action against the BBC.

Current Situation

Scott is now being supported by Sam at their home in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. An episode of Celebrity Bake Off featuring Scott was pulled from broadcast in April, and he will no longer host the Race Across the World podcast.
