Tower of London's Poignant Poppy Display Concludes
The powerful 'The Tower Remembers' exhibition at the Tower of London has officially drawn to a close. The stunning installation, which featured a sea of ceramic poppies, opened to the public in May 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. It provided a moving tribute for hundreds of thousands of visitors before its final day on Armistice Day, 2025.
The project's conclusion was marked with a solemn minute's silence, honouring Britain's fallen soldiers and the immense contributions of all those who supported the war effort.
Can You Purchase a Poppy from the 2025 Display?
A question on many people's minds, now that the exhibition has ended, is whether they can acquire one of the poignant ceramic symbols. The display featured a staggering 30,000 individual ceramic poppies, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
However, unlike the famous 2014 display, these poppies are not available for public purchase. The reason is that the poppies were on loan from the Imperial War Museum and will now be returned to its permanent collection.
How This Display Differs from the 2014 Installation
This new exhibition was a different undertaking compared to the iconic 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' installation at the Tower in 2014. That earlier project saw all 888,246 of its ceramic poppies sold to the public, raising significant funds for military charities.
Following that installation and its subsequent national tour, the majority of those poppies were preserved for the nation and now form a key part of the Imperial War Museums' collection. While individual poppies were sold at the time, larger sculptural pieces from the original artwork were not made available.
It is important to note that any poppies from the 2014 display found on resale websites like eBay are part of the secondary market and are in no way connected to the official 2025 'The Tower Remembers' exhibition.
