McVitie's Launches White Chocolate Hobnobs After Decades

McVitie's is launching a new Hobnob flavour that fans have wanted since the 1980s. The iconic British biscuit brand, which has been dominating the market since 1839, has introduced White Chocolate Hobnobs. This new variant features the classic oaty cookie coated with white chocolate instead of the traditional milk or dark chocolate.

The White Chocolate Hobnobs are now available at Morrisons, with a wider rollout to other supermarkets starting July 13. A 232g pack is priced at £2.25, though the recommended retail price may vary by store.

McVitie's already offers several Hobnob varieties, including Gluten Free Original, Gluten Free Milk Chocolate, Choc Flapjack, and Oaty Flapjack. Earlier this year, the brand also launched Hobnobs Oaty Crunch Creams in Milk and Chocolate flavours, which are rectangular and feature a filling.

Eleonore de Saint Perier, brand manager at McVitie's, said: 'We're delighted to introduce McVitie's White Hobnobs to the Hobnobs family. Combining our iconic wholegrain oat biscuit with a smooth white chocolate flavour coating, they're a spin on a firm favourite, made for those moments when a simple biscuit just won't do.'

In other news, McVitie's has also ventured into savoury snacks for the first time with Penguin Bites, baked snack crackers available in lightly salted, cheese, and salt and vinegar flavours. Priced at £2 for a 125g box, they are now stocked in major UK grocery retailers.

Meanwhile, a recent taste test by Metro found that Marks & Spencer's chocolate digestive biscuits scored 86 out of 100, outperforming McVitie's own version, which scored 61. M&S biscuits use demerara sugar for a crunchier texture, earning high marks for chocolate-to-biscuit ratio, dunkability, appearance, and texture.
