Ubisoft Confirms Black Flag & Prince of Persia Remakes for Spring 2026
Ubisoft reveals Black Flag and Prince of Persia remake dates

Ubisoft's Spring 2026 Lineup Revealed

Ubisoft has officially outlined its gaming schedule for the first quarter of 2026, confirming two highly anticipated remakes that have been the subject of intense speculation among gaming communities. The company's latest financial report, which experienced a brief delay due to accounting issues, reveals concrete plans for the Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake and the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake.

Release Schedule and Competition

According to sources at Insider Gaming, the Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake is scheduled to launch during the week beginning March 23, 2026. This places it in direct competition with several other major releases, including Housemarque's Returnal successor Saros on March 20 and 007 First Light on March 27, 2026.

The early months of 2026 are becoming increasingly crowded for game releases, though the delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 to November has potentially created opportunities for other titles to claim more advantageous launch windows.

Prince of Persia's Troubled Development

The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has experienced significant development challenges since its original announcement in September 2020. After negative reception to the initial trailer, the project was delayed and subsequently transferred to Ubisoft Montreal for completion.

While Ubisoft had previously indicated a 2026 release window, the exact date remained unknown until now. With the Black Flag remake scheduled for late March, industry observers expect the Prince of Persia remake to arrive earlier in the quarter, potentially following the January release pattern established by Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown in 2024.

Both remakes are likely to make appearances at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025, marking their first major public showcases in years.

Ubisoft's Broader Strategy

This announcement comes during a relatively quiet period for the Assassin's Creed franchise following the launch of Assassin's Creed Shadows earlier this year. Ubisoft has been navigating financial challenges with its new Tencent joint venture subsidiary while continuing development on other franchise entries, including the multiplayer spin-off codenamed Invictus and the witch-themed Hexe.

The confirmation of these remakes represents a significant commitment to revitalising classic titles while maintaining momentum for Ubisoft's flagship franchises during a transitional period for the company.
