Stranger Things stars reunite after bullying claims

United Front at Stranger Things Premiere

David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown presented a strikingly united front during Thursday night's Stranger Things season five premiere, just days after reports emerged alleging on-set bullying and harassment between the co-stars. The actors, who have portrayed Eleven and Jim Hopper since the Netflix sci-fi phenomenon launched in 2016, shared warm embraces and genuine laughter on the red carpet, seemingly putting recent rumours to rest.

Addressing the Allegations

The Mail on Sunday had previously reported that Harbour, 50, faced an internal investigation following allegations from Brown, 21, who reportedly submitted 'pages and pages of accusations' concerning his behaviour. The complaint was allegedly filed before filming began on the highly anticipated final season, with the investigation continuing for months. Neither star has publicly commented directly on these specific claims.

When questioned on the red carpet, co-creator Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter: 'Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. Nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.'

Director and executive producer Shawn Levy emphasised their commitment to a respectful workplace, stating they are proud of the environment they built. He added that he had read numerous stories about the bullying claims and found some aspects to be 'wildly inaccurate', describing the cast and crew as family who treat each other with respect.

A Display of Mutual Admiration

Brown was effusive in her praise for Harbour when speaking with Entertainment Tonight, highlighting their special bond. 'I’ve obviously had a really special bond with David because we have a father and daughter relationship, and we do every scene together,' she said. 'You really get to see that in season 5. It’s been so special to have him along the journey for me.'

Speaking to Extra, Brown further emphasised their connection: 'It’s been amazing. We’re so lucky to have each other. The show means so much to the both of us and to everyone here.'

Harbour reciprocated the sentiment, telling ET: 'I adore her, and I’ve been proud to watch all them grow up and become great artists. I doubt it will be the last time we’ll see each other in this world or work together.'

The official Stranger Things Instagram account captured their red carpet reunion, posting a clip of their warm embrace with the caption: 'David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown arrive together for one last Stranger Things premiere.'

Stranger Things returns to Netflix for its fifth and final season on November 26.
