Comedian and actor Pete Davidson has become a father for the first time, sharing the happy news alongside a deeply personal tribute to his late father, a hero of the September 11 attacks.
A Meaningful Name for a New Arrival
Pete Davidson, 32, and his partner, actress Elsie Hewitt, 29, welcomed their daughter on December 12, 2025. The couple announced the birth on social media, posting a series of intimate photos that captured their joy. To protect their newborn's privacy, they thoughtfully placed a white heart emoji over her face in each image.
In their caption, they revealed the baby's carefully chosen name: Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson. The first name, Scottie, is a direct homage to Pete's father, Scott Matthew Davidson, a New York City firefighter who lost his life while responding to the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. Pete was just seven years old at the time of his father's death.
The middle name, Rose, holds significance for Elsie, as it is her own middle name, beautifully tying both sides of the family together.
Overflowing with Love and Gratitude
Both new parents expressed their overwhelming emotions in the announcement. Elsie Hewitt, known for her role in the TV series 'Industry', wrote: 'My best work yet, I am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief.' Pete Davidson, true to his comedic style, added a lighter note, declaring: 'Wu Tang forever.'
The couple, who were first romantically linked in March 2025, had confirmed they were expecting in July. Elsie shared the news on Instagram with a series of photos alongside Pete, including footage from a hospital scan, humorously captioning it: 'Welp now everyone knows we had sex.'
A source close to the pair told People magazine at the time: 'They're both very nurturing people and are very, very happy together and to be starting a family.' The insider added, 'They've been sharing privately with loved ones, and it's a really sweet time after everything Pete has overcome. He's so excited. He's always wanted to be a dad.'
A New Chapter Beyond the Headlines
Davidson's journey to fatherhood comes after years of intense media scrutiny focused on his high-profile relationships with celebrities including Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Kaia Gerber, and Phoebe Dynevor.
However, in 2023, the 'Saturday Night Live' alumnus pushed back against the constant attention on his personal life. Speaking on the 'Real Ones' podcast, he reflected: 'I think what happened was, I became more known before the work was there... I'm in my 20s and I've dated people and for some reason that is very crazy and interesting to people. I don't think it's that interesting.'
He emphasised his long career in showbusiness, stating that dating a handful of people over a decade in the spotlight wasn't particularly remarkable. This new chapter of parenthood with Elsie Hewitt marks a significant and heartfelt shift for Davidson, centring on family, legacy, and private joy over public fascination.
