GTA VI Release Pushed to November 2026: Rockstar Games Confirms New Date
GTA VI Release Delayed to November 2026

Fans of the blockbuster Grand Theft Auto series will have to wait a little longer for the next instalment, as Rockstar Games has officially announced a further delay for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI.

New Release Date Confirmed

In a statement released on Thursday, November 6, the developer confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will now launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026. This marks another setback from its original scheduled release in May 2026, which itself was a postponement from an initial Autumn 2025 window.

Rockstar Games addressed the gaming community directly, stating: "We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

Exploring Leonida and Vice City

The company expressed continued excitement for players to finally experience the game's world. The statement highlighted the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to a modern-day Vice City, the fan-favourite setting inspired by Miami that was first introduced in the 2002 PlayStation 2 title.

Echoing this sentiment, Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of parent company Take-Two Interactive, added: "We remain both excited and confident they will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience."

What We Know About GTA VI So Far

While Rockstar has been selective with details, two trailers released earlier this year offered a substantial glimpse into the game. The footage, which amassed over 100 million views, introduced the protagonists: a criminal couple named Jason and Lucia.

According to the developer's description, Jason was a wayward teen who joined the military to escape trouble, only to fall back into a life of crime upon returning home. Lucia, whom he picks up from jail in the trailer, was imprisoned for "protecting her family." The pair aim to build a new life together but find themselves at the centre of a conspiracy after an easy score goes wrong.

The game follows the immense success of GTA V, which has become one of the best-selling games of all time since its 2013 debut.

Fan Reaction to the Delay

The announcement prompted hundreds of responses from dedicated followers online. Reactions were mixed but largely understanding. The official Domino's account joked, "call us if you need help delivering," while one fan commented, "delay the game as many times as you want... we're all fine with waiting another 10 years for this."

Another supporter noted the delay teaches "the importance of patience," whilst a different fan summed up the prevailing mood: "I was disappointed... but I rather the game be a masterpiece." Many expressed confidence that the final product will be worth the extended wait, with one predicting GTA VI will be remembered as one of the greatest games of a generation.
