Gregg Wallace Returns to Culinary World with New Cooking Show After MasterChef Departure

Gregg Wallace has announced his comeback to the culinary scene with a new cooking show, following his exit from the BBC's MasterChef in 2024. The 61-year-old television personality left the popular cooking competition after allegations of inappropriate behavior surfaced, involving 13 individuals who reported inappropriate sexual comments. Wallace and his legal team denied these claims, stating they were false, but he stepped away during an investigation into his conduct.

Details of the New Show: Gregg's Kitchen on TikTok

On Friday, Wallace revealed plans for a new cooking program titled Gregg's Kitchen, which will be a 12-hour live show broadcast on TikTok. The premiere is scheduled for Sunday, April 5. Wallace made the announcement on The Malik Butchers Facebook page, expressing excitement about the project. He stated, 'I am excited to announce a brand new live cookery show on TikTok, Gregg's Kitchen, and it will showcase on Sunday, April 5. We are going to be cooking some amazing dishes, we are going to have some incredible guests, lots of cookery, lots of live chat and more importantly, lots of very good offers for you to buy on TikTok shop.'

Since leaving MasterChef, Wallace has been active on social media and working as a life coach. However, this new venture marks his first major return to television-style content, albeit in a digital format. The show aims to blend cooking demonstrations with interactive elements and promotional deals through TikTok's shopping features.

Background on the MasterChef Allegations and Investigation

The allegations against Wallace led to a thorough investigation by the BBC. In July 2025, ahead of the investigation's findings, Wallace released a statement expressing regret, saying he was 'deeply sorry for any distress' and claimed he 'never set out to harm or humiliate'. He later added that he had been cleared of the 'most serious and sensational accusations'.

However, the final report substantiated 45 out of 83 complaints against Wallace, primarily involving inappropriate sexual language and humor. As a result, the BBC permanently dropped him from their programming. Following this, Wallace attempted to sue the BBC for up to £10,000 in damages, alleging they failed to disclose his personal data, which he claimed caused 'distress and harassment'. He ultimately dropped the case shortly before a hearing. A BBC spokesperson confirmed, 'He is not receiving any payment in costs or damages from either BBC or BBC Studios.'

Co-star John Torode Also Faced Allegations

Wallace's co-star on MasterChef, John Torode, also faced allegations, specifically of using racist language, which were upheld. Torode was subsequently sacked from the BBC cooking show as well. This series of events has significantly impacted the show's lineup and reputation.

The return of Gregg Wallace with Gregg's Kitchen represents a shift in his career, moving from traditional broadcast media to digital platforms. It remains to be seen how audiences will respond to his new show, given the controversies surrounding his past. The culinary world continues to evolve, with social media playing an increasingly prominent role in content delivery and celebrity engagement.
