Viewers of the hit BBC reality series Celebrity Race Across The World have been left utterly astonished after learning the true age of actor Dylan Llewellyn.
The Age Revelation That Shocked Fans
Best known for playing schoolboy roles in Channel 4's Derry Girls and university student in Big Boys, fans naturally assumed the fresh-faced actor was much younger than his actual years. The revelation came during the current season where Llewellyn appears alongside his mother, Jackie, racing 5,900 kilometres across Central America.
The journey takes competitors along both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts, featuring challenging terrain that tests the celebrity duos both physically and emotionally. Fellow contestants include broadcaster Anita Rani with her father Bal, presenting couple Molly Rainford and Tyler West, and broadcaster Roman Kemp racing with his sister Harleymoon.
Social media platform X erupted with disbelief as viewers discovered Llewellyn is actually 33 years old. One user named Donna exclaimed: 'Dylan is 33?!?!!' while Bee Smith echoed the sentiment. Another viewer, Daz Scott, commented: 'Dylan is 33? I thought he was like 17.'
Steph Murray questioned: 'How is Dylan 33,' while Lucinda tobyjug admitted: 'Dylan's 33. Thought he was a young pup.' Suzy summed up the general reaction by stating: 'Dylan is 33? He looks 23!'
Emotional Journey Beyond the Race
Elsewhere in the season, the programme took an emotionally powerful turn as Llewellyn opened up about profound personal loss. In a moving scene that left him fighting back tears, he shared the story of his brother James, who died by suicide at age 20.
'Me and my mum lost someone close to us,' Llewellyn explained. 'I lost my brother, and my mum lost her son. His name is James.'
The actor expressed poignant regret that his brother couldn't experience the journey himself: 'I just wish he could take my place and do this, do all this and travel the world. But he never got to.'
In a separate aside to camera, Llewellyn provided more context about the tragedy: 'My eldest brother James, he took his life when he was 20. I was 16. It just hit us all hard, so hard.'
He revealed the deeper meaning behind participating in the race with his mother: 'Doing this race is like doing it for my brother and my mum. He would have loved to do something like this. I think she'd like to have that kind of journey with a son.'
