A disturbing grooming storyline is unfolding on the cobbles of Coronation Street, as Will Driscoll finds himself trapped in the manipulative clutches of his former coach, Megan.
A Sinister Welcome to Weatherfield
The drama began when Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and her new family settled into the Rovers Return, with one notable absence: Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale). Will eventually arrived secretly on the cobbles and discovered his loved ones had called the police due to his unexpected delay. Spotting the officers, he panicked and tried to sneak into the pub through the beer garden, where he encountered Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner).
Will's true intentions became clear when he offered to pay Lily to retrieve his passport for him, revealing he never planned to stay. Fortunately, Lily alerted Eva and Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), but by the time they reached him, Will had vanished once more.
Megan's Deceptive Rescue
Will later returned to the Rovers, but he wasn't alone. The family gathered to meet Megan (Beth Nixon), Will's old coach, who claimed she had found him camping in a sports hall changing room and brought him straight home. When Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) questioned why she hadn't phoned them or the police, Megan argued she was worried Will was a flight risk, pointing out that her fears were justified given his attempt to get his passport.
This story, however, was a complete lie. In a chilling later scene, Will met Megan in the ginnel, where she warned him to stop acting like a loose cannon and promised they could be together again soon. It is painfully clear that Will believes he is in a relationship with his former coach, while in reality, he is a victim of her calculated grooming.
The Unravelling Truth and Future Confessions
Struggling to settle into life with his family, Will finds his time with Megan far more exciting. In upcoming episodes, Eva's curiosity is piqued when she learns James Bailey (Jason Callender) is a personal trainer. James takes Will for a session, but Will shows no interest whatsoever.
The deception continues later in the week when Will tells Eva and Ben about attending an athletics meeting in Leeds with his old team—a story that appears to be a cover. A few days later, Megan drops a devastated Will off. He stomps off in a foul mood, heartbroken to be back in reality and away from her.
In a pivotal moment, Ben bumps into Megan outside and insists on taking her to the pub for lunch. This creates a tense situation where Will could potentially confess everything to his family. However, as this harrowing storyline has only just begun, viewers will have to wait to see if the Driscolls uncover the sinister truth.
Newcomer Beth Nixon, who plays Megan, teased the character's manipulation, stating, 'We can see her slowly worm her way into the family and befriend Eva and Maggie and really get the women on side with her. They think she's good for Will; they think she's a brilliant mentor. So no one is suspecting anything at the moment.'
She also hinted that Lauren will become suspicious due to her own past experiences, forcing Megan to change tactics and use Daniel as a new cover-up. Nixon promised that audiences will 'uncover how truly vile she can be', confirming Megan will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
