Charity has been living a lie, convincing her family that the baby she is carrying is the result of a carefully planned embryo implantation for her granddaughter, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill). The devastating truth, however, is that the pregnancy stems from a reckless encounter with Ross Barton (Mike Parr) after a night involving a bottle of wine. While Sarah and her new husband Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) are blissfully unaware on their honeymoon, the bombshell has just detonated for Mack.
