Luna Carmoon's Secret Horror Project Concludes Filming in London

Luna Carmoon, the acclaimed director behind the 2024 coming-of-age romance Hoard, has recently finished shooting a clandestine new horror film in London. Titled To Make Ends Meat, this highly anticipated project marks Carmoon's second venture as a writer-director, showcasing a dramatic shift into the horror genre.

Star-Studded Cast and Intriguing Plot

The film features a compelling ensemble cast, including Naomi Ackie from Mickey 17, Alison Oliver known for her role in Wuthering Heights, and French actress Armande Boulanger of The Returned. They portray three women entangled in debt to despicable men, their own pasts, and each other, who resort to bargaining for survival through consumption and violence—the only language these men comprehend.

Carmoon describes the film as a deeply personal creation, stating, 'This film has come from the belly of my soul, of all things, tar and family.' She draws inspiration from her grandmother's experiences in Newington Lodge, her mother Toni's cleaning jobs where darker elements lingered, and memories involving teddies and chicken farms. Carmoon emphasizes, 'So much of my family and our memories seep deeper than you'd think.'

Production Details and Creative Vision

Filming took place over six weeks in various locations across London, with co-star Éanna Hardwicke from Saipan also joining the project. Carmoon is collaborating with a female-led team, including cinematographer Hélène Louvart of La Chimera fame, underscoring her commitment to diverse storytelling.

Producers Helen Simmons and Loran Dunn praise the film, noting, 'To Make Ends Meat is hugely ambitious, dripping in genre, and deeply resonant to our times, and we've no doubt it will deliver a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience thanks to Luna's unique vision.' BBC Film's Kristin Irving adds, 'Luna is outrageously talented. It's a privilege to support her and her producers once again as she conjures her vision on a grand, blood-soaked, cinematic canvas with an extraordinary cast and crew.'

Release and Distribution Plans

With a UK distributor already secured, audiences can expect announcements regarding a release date later in 2026. Carmoon expresses her passion for the project, fueled by rage and the experiences of womanhood, saying, 'I cannot think of a more prevalent time than now to paint and stitch and weave to screen... This has been made with all my blood, figuratively and yes, physically of all of me. I hope I know it will rupture, splinter and cry to us all when it is stitched together.'

This film promises to be a significant addition to the horror genre, blending personal narrative with social commentary, all set against the backdrop of London's dynamic filming locations.
