Ariana Grande rushed by intruder at Wicked premiere

Pop star and actress Ariana Grande was the target of a shocking security breach during the Singapore premiere of her new film, Wicked: For Good, on Thursday. A fan vaulted over security barricades and rushed the singer on the yellow carpet, creating a frightening moment captured on video.

The Intrusion Unfolds

The incident took place on Thursday, 13 November 2025, at the Universal Studios venue in Singapore. Video footage shows the moment the individual, identified as 26-year-old Australian Johnson Wen, scaled the barricade and pushed past a line of photographers to reach the celebrity.

Wen threw his arms around Ariana Grande in an unsolicited embrace before her co-star, Cynthia Erivo, quickly intervened. Security personnel swiftly swooped in to detain the man and remove him from the carpet.

Who is the 'Pyjama Man'?

The intruder, Johnson Wen, is reportedly a notorious red carpet crasher who goes by the online alias 'Pyjama Man'. Following the incident, he was charged with being a public nuisance. He brazenly shared footage of the intrusion on his Instagram, writing, "Dear Ariana Grande, Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You."

In videos posted prior to the event, Wen was seen at the venue stating his intentions, saying, "I feel like I'm in a dream, that's my best friend, Ariana Grande, and I'm gonna meet her. I've been dreaming about that." Reports indicate he has a history of ambushing performers, including previous incidents with Katy Perry, The Chainsmokers, and The Weeknd at concerts in Australia.

Aftermath and Context

Ariana Grande was visibly shaken by the encounter, taking a moment to compose herself after the intrusion. While she did not directly address the event on her social media, she later posted photos from the premiere with the caption "thank you, Singapore" and "we love you".

The singer has publicly battled post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) since the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing at her concert, which killed 22 people. In a 2018 interview with Vogue, she described the lasting impact, stating, "It's hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss. But, yeah, it's a real thing."

It has been reported that Wen intends to plead guilty to the charge and could face a fine of more than £1,000. The film, Wicked: For Good, in which Grande plays Galinda Upland, is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on 21 November.
