Rock in Rio Lisbon Unveils Final Headliner for 2026 Festival

The anticipation for one of the summer's most exciting music festivals has reached a new peak with the announcement of the final headliner for Rock in Rio Lisbon. British rapper 21 Savage is set to make his long-awaited debut in Portugal at the massive event, joining an already stellar line-up that includes British legend Rod Stewart, American popstar Katy Perry, and rock sensation Linkin Park.

Expanding Legacy of a Global Festival Phenomenon

First launched in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1985, Rock in Rio has grown to become one of the world's largest music festivals, attracting 1.38 million attendees at its inaugural event. Since then, the festival has expanded its footprint across continents, with editions in Madrid and Las Vegas joining its Brazilian and Portuguese iterations.

The Lisbon edition, which began in 2004, returns this June after a four-year hiatus, promising two massive weekends of music at Parque Tejo. This marks the tenth time the festival has been held in the Portuguese capital, continuing its tradition of bringing world-class entertainment to enthusiastic audiences.

21 Savage Brings Grammy-Winning Talent to Lisbon

Now based in Atlanta, Georgia, 21 Savage began his career in 2013 and has since released four critically acclaimed albums. The Grammy-winning artist, who took home best rap song honors for his single A Lot in 2020, has collaborated with industry heavyweights including Drake, Offset, and Post Malone.

Described as one of the defining voices in modern hip hop, 21 Savage is expected to deliver a powerful performance featuring global hits and chart-topping projects like American Dream, along with landmark collaborations including Savage Mode II with Metro Boomin and Her Loss with Drake.

Diverse Line-Up Reflects Global Youth Culture

Rock in Rio Lisbon executive vice president Roberta Medina emphasized that this year's line-up represents the dominant musical language among younger generations around the world. From hip hop to trap and Afrobeats, these sounds shape contemporary youth culture, and bringing together artists like 21 Savage with other international talents reflects the strength and diversity of this global movement.

The festival has teased that one day will feature the biggest rap-focused day in the history of the Lisbon edition, with additional acts including:

  • British rapper Central Cee, whose collaboration with Dave on Sprinter became the longest-running No.1 rap song in UK chart history
  • Afrobeats sensation Rema, who achieved worldwide success with Calm Down and its Selena Gomez remix
  • Brazilian trap star Matuê and rapper Filipe Ret
  • Influential funk producer DENNIS
  • Afropop rising star Irina Barros
  • Portuguese hip hop artist Carlão
  • Spanish pop crossover artist Lola Índigo

Themed Days and Additional Confirmed Artists

Each day of the festival will be themed around specific musical styles and audiences, creating unique experiences for attendees. Beyond the headline acts, other confirmed artists across the two festival weekends include Charlie Puth, Shaggy, and Joss Stone, ensuring a diverse musical offering that caters to various tastes.

Rock in Rio Lisbon 2026 takes place from June 20-21 and 27-28 at Parque Tejo in Lisbon, Portugal, marking a triumphant return for one of Europe's most anticipated summer music events.
