Canary Wharf's Winter Lights festival will return in 2027, running from January 19 to January 30, organisers have confirmed. The free open-air exhibition will feature artworks installed across streets, parks, and waterways throughout the district.
Theme and artists announced
Each artwork follows the theme RE(IMAGINE), created by acclaimed UK and international artists. The area's management company CWG said the theme invites artists and audiences to "explore new possibilities, transforming how we experience public space, whilst conjuring hopeful futures and alternative realities." The pieces on display will allude to the act of revisiting, reusing, recycling, and realising it anew.
Pippa Dale, associate director of arts & events at CWG, added: "Winter Lights has proven itself as a mainstay on the London calendar and we couldn't be happier that people return every January to take in the joy of light art. As ever, 2027's festival promises an array of diverse installations including new commissions, as well as several UK debuts. We can't wait to welcome you back."
Practical details and visitor advice
The full artist line-up is to be announced in January 2027. During the 2026 edition, installations were switched on between 5-10pm daily, so it's likely this time around will be much the same. Winter Lights can get very busy on weekends, so it's recommended to visit on a weekday if possible.
The free exhibition is entering its second decade, having become a mainstay on the London calendar. For those interested in past editions, MyLondon published a review of the 2026 exhibition.
