In a festive surprise for fans, the first celebrity contestant for the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 Christmas special has been officially revealed.

The announcement came during the live broadcast of the spin-off show It Takes Two on BBC Two on the evening of Friday, November 21, 2025.

Surprise Reveal On It Takes Two

The honour of being the first name confirmed for the highly-anticipated festive edition goes to none other than Scarlett Moffatt.

The Gogglebox favourite and former Saturday Night Takeaway presenter made the out-of-the-blue announcement herself as a guest on the show's Friday Panel.

She will be partnered with professional dancer Vito Coppola, who famously lifted the Glitter Ball trophy in 2023 with his celebrity partner, Coronation Street star Ellie Leach.

Scarlett's Magical Strictly Dream

Expressing her excitement about joining the cast, Scarlett Moffatt shared her heartfelt thoughts on the opportunity.

'Strictly has always held a special place in my heart, so being part of the Christmas special feels truly magical,' she said.

She went on to describe the show as a unifying force that brings families together around the television, calling her participation a 'genuine personal and career highlight.'

With her trademark humour, she added, 'I'm sure it'll also introduce me to a few muscles I didn't know I had. I can't wait to live my best life on that dancefloor.'

More Festive Names To Come

While the main Strictly Come Dancing 2025 series continues its run, culminating in a dazzling Blackpool special this weekend, the focus is already shifting towards Christmas.

Fans won't have to wait long to discover the next celebrity taking part. The second contestant for the 2025 Christmas special will be unveiled on Monday during the Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills.

Mark your calendars: the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will be broadcast on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, promising a glittering festive treat for the whole family.
